Integrated Maritime Policy
The integrated maritime policy of the EU consists of a coordinated approach to blue growth, marine knowledge, maritime spatial planning / surveillance / security strategy or sea basin strategies. Greece recognizes its dynamic and the opportunities arising for the shipping industry, focusing its efforts on attracting investments, job creation, enhancing competitiveness and promoting insularity, with full respect towards the marine environment and the marine resources.
In this context, our country actively participated in the consultations for the adoption, on 26.05.2021, of the Council conclusions on a sustainable blue economy, which is based on 4 pillars: ocean health, knowledge, prosperity and social equity.Through these conclusions, the Council aims to ensure that the EU promotes a modern, resource-efficient, resilient, competitive and sustainable economy where, by 2050, biodiversity will be conserved, restored and used in a sustainable way.
