Tourism
Tourism is the sector of the economy the most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. On 13.5.2020, the Commission presented a package of proposals for tourism and transport, which included guidelines and recommendations for the member states with the main aim of restoring the free movement and lifting the controls and restrictions at the EU's internal borders.
Greece supports all EU’s initiatives aimed at strengthening the tourist ecosystem during the COVID-19 pandemic and works intensively for the green and digital transition of the tourism industry, the improvement of the skills of workers in the tourism sector and the enhancement of resilience of the tourism industry. In this context, the Council adopted on 27.5.2021 Conclusions on "Tourism in Europe for the next decade: sustainable, resilient, digital, global and social”.
