Promoting Greece's image in the world

The aim of International Communication, as an important aspect of Public Diplomacy, is the continuous, organized and systematic effort to form and maintain the image of reliability and credibility for our country through targeted actions. Some of these have to do with the country's relations with journalists and with the foreign and Diaspora media correspondents accredited in Greece, who are provided with information and offered assistance with administrative procedures and technical support for their work.

In addition, five foreign-language websites, Greek News Agenda, Grèce Hebdo, Panorama Griego, Punto Grecia, Griechenland Aktuell, operate with a view to highlighting and enhancing Greece’s image on a European and international level, promoting the country's image to international audiences through the presentation of topics that showcase Greece’s traditional comparative advantages (Culture, Tourism, Language, Literature, History, Arts, etc.) as well as elements that boost its contemporary identity (digital transformation of the state, outward-looking higher education, research and innovation, attracting investment, addressing climate change, etc.).

Emphasis is also placed on promoting the country's positions on various global issues. Through the above topics - which highlight the diverse aspects of a modern, European country that are often not very widely known to international audiences - the websites contribute to a better understanding of the country and improve its international image via, among others, the special sections Reading Greece and Rethinking Greece.
