In New York, we had the opportunity to hold a series of high-level international meetings.
Yesterday, I attended the Transatlantic Dinner, hosted by the US Secretary of State.
Today, we had the opportunity to meet with the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as the Commissioner-General of the UN Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. A series of contacts that underscore Greece's upgraded role, particularly in view of our country's participation in the UN Security Council as an elected member.
The meeting I had with the Minister of External Affairs of India was of particular significance. We maintain strong ties with India. It is the world's largest country in terms of population, but it is also an emerging power on the international stage.
Greece has established very strong diplomatic ties with India, which encompass not only issues pertaining to economy and investments, but also strategic and geostrategic matters. For instance, Greece will play a crucial role in the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. And of course, we maintain cooperation on issues of common interest, such as shipping and energy.
Today we will meet with the Foreign Minister of China, here in New York.
Greece is becoming stronger, is growing and increasing its international capital with confidence and vigor.
