At the 75th Anniversary Summit of NATO in Washington D.C., there was a widespread consensus that the North Atlantic Alliance has significantly contributed to stability and prosperity, thereby enhancing global security and peace.
This position was shared not only by the Alliance members, but also by the European Union representatives and leaders from the Indo-Pacific region who attended the conference.
This universal understanding is particularly significant in an era, in which global challenges are numerous, the spillover effects of the ongoing wars in Ukraine and the Middle East are amplified on a daily basis, and the risks posed by armed conflicts and authoritarian regimes are multiplying.
In this environment, Greece constitutes a pillar of stability in the broader Eastern Mediterranean region, having significantly upgraded its diplomatic capital through the principled foreign policy it implements. Greece emphatically raised the issue of all NATO members' commitment to International Law and international treaties, which constitute the foundation of the global security architecture.
Particular reference was made to the obligation of full implementation of the Prespa Agreement, the core of which is being systematically violated by the new political and state leadership of North Macedonia.
