Minister of Foreign Affairs George Gerapetritis’ statement with ERT and journalist Pierros Tzanetakos, following his participation in the Ministerial Meeting on the European Perspective of the Western Balkans (Göttweig, 21.06.2024)Twenty-one years after adopting the Thessaloniki Agenda on the European integration perspective of the Western Balkans, Greece again stands at the forefront of this significant endeavor. Because the Western Balkans’ path is undoubtedly one-way, leading to Europe, and this is what we will continue to advocate for.

Obviously, this path must be based on the adherence to European acquis, Democracy, the Rule of law, and indeed the rights of minorities, as well as to the faithful implementation of International Law and international agreements.

I had the opportunity to raise these issues. Greece will continue to be at the core of the states, the friends of the Western Balkans, and will work to promote a Europe that will be great, strong, and inclusive encompassing all nations in our broader neighborhood. We are committed to working towards progress, peace, and prosperity.
