Minister of Foreign Affairs George Gerapetritis to participate in the EU Foreign Affairs Council (Brussels, 22-23.01.2024)

Minister of Foreign Affairs George Gerapetritis is departing today for Brussels, where he will participate in the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council (FAC), which will convene tomorrow, Monday, January 22.

The main topic of the FAC will be the situation in the Middle East. The Israeli Foreign Minister has been invited to participate in the first session of the Council's proceedings. The Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, as well as the Secretary General of the Arab League, have been invited to the second session. The Palestinian Foreign Minister will attend the third session.

Before the opening of the Council’s proceedings, the EU Foreign Ministers will have a working breakfast with the Egyptian Foreign Minister. At the same time, the 10th EU-Egypt Association Council will convene on Tuesday, January 23, in which Mr. Gerapetritis will participate.

The Council’s agenda also includes the war in Ukraine and developments in Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.

Following the Council, Mr. Gerapetritis is expected to meet with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.
