Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Katrougalos will participate in the conference of NATO member states which will be held in the US capital on the occasion of the 70thanniversary of the founding of the North Atlantic Alliance (1949).
Giorgos
Katrougalos will begin his contacts in New York, where on Monday, 1
April, he will give a speech at Columbia University, on the Prespa Agreement
and the prospects that it gives rise to in the Balkans. On the same
day, he will be the key speaker at an event organised by the “Council onForeign Relations”, on the topic of Greece's strengthened regional role and the upgraded relations between Greece and the US.
On
the following day, 2 April, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will meet
with Matthew Nimetz, former UN Secretary-General’s Special
Representative. He will also have a working luncheon at New
York University (NYU) with prominent academics, where he will have the
opportunity to present Greece's foreign policy initiatives.
On
3 April, the Minister will travel to Washington, where he will
participate in the conference and events marking the 70th anniversary of
the Alliance. He will participate in anopen discussion with
his counterpart of North Macedonia, Nikola Dimitrov, co-organised by the
think tanks “Atlantic Council,” “German Marshall Fund” and “Munich Security Conference”.
On
Thursday, 4 April, Giorgos Katrougalos will participate in the
anniversary meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs and will
deliver a speech on Greece's foreign policy initiatives in the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean at the “Transatlantic Leadership Network” think tank.
The
Minister of Foreign Affairs’ visit to the US will conclude with a
meeting with the UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for Cyprus, Ms
Jane Holl Lute, on Friday, 5
April.
