At the recent 137th Session of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Council, which was held virtually on 12 December 2020, our country’s candidate, Konstantinos Kaiopoulos, was elected Director of Tariff and Trade Affairs.
The Greek candidacy was promoted actively by our country’s Embassies, in direct cooperation with the Foreign Ministry’s Secretariat General for International Economic Relations and Openness.
This is the first time a Greek has been elected to a key position at the WCO, which makes important decisions that impact customs regimes and, more generally, the terms for importing goods in global trade.
