Patriarch Ignatius IV of Antioch and All The East hospitalized in Beirut

Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos, in Brussels to attend a NATO Ministerial, expressed his wholehearted support and best wishes for a speedy recovery to the family of Patriarch Ignatius IV of Antioch and All The East, who has been hospitalized at Saint George Hospital in Beirut.

Mr. Avramopoulos has instructed the Foreign Ministry’s Secretary General, Ambassador Vassilis Kaskarelis, to keep in constant touch with His Beatitude’s relatives.

Prime Minister Antonis Samaras expressed his best wishes, approving a Greek initiative to transport the Patriarch to Greece for medical care as soon as His Beatitude’s health allows. The Patriarch’s current condition precludes his travelling, but the channel of communication is open for any assistance Greece can offer.
