The President of the Hellenic Republic, Karolos Papoulias, will be carrying out an official visit to Romania on 28 and 29 June, accompanied by Foreign Minister Stavros Lambrinidis.
During his visit, Mr. Papoulias will meet with the country’s state, political and religious leadership, and he will open the proceedings of a Greek-Romanian Business Forum.
Mr. Papoulias’s itinerary includes meetings with the Romanian President and Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Romanian Parliament, the President of the Senate and the head of the main opposition party. In addition to visiting the Palace of the Patriarchate, where he will meet with Patriarch Daniel, Mr. Papoulias will meet with representatives of the Greek Romanian community. He will also visit the Romanian Academy, attend the unveiling of a bust of Eleftherios Venizelos, and confer a award on Hellenist Elena Lazar.
Mr. Papoulias’s visit will also see the signing of a Greek-Romanian Memorandum of Cooperation in the agricultural sector.
