On 18 December, Secretary General for International Economic Relations and Development Cooperation Peter Mihalos addressed a conference on “Greece-Azerbaijan: Challenges and Opportunities for Business Cooperation,” which was organized by the Greek-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce and Economy, at the Divani Caravel hotel.
Mr. Mihalos set out the positive developments in all the indicators for the Greek economy; developments that have resulted from the structural reforms marking a new climate and a new beginning in the accessibility of the Greek economy to all the country’s economic and trade partners. He stressed the particular importance of Azerbaijan, with whom Greece wants to work more closely, particularly on issues of bilateral interest. Energy corridors, the Greek privatization programme, and the tourism sector are salient examples of areas where Greece wants to pursue closer cooperation with Azerbaijan. Mr. Mihalos also expressed the Foreign Ministry’s readiness and desire to contribute in a variety of ways to the effort to broaden Greek-Azerbaijani bilateral relations, with multiple benefits for both countries.
