Sectoral Development Program
The Sectoral Development Program (SDP) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the programming period 2021-2025 was approved by the decision of the Deputy Minister of Development and Investments no. 11987/7-2-2022 (Official Gazette Β΄564).
The objective of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to defend the national interests and to strengthen the country's position in the international environment, the extroversion and the exports.
The Sectoral Development Program:
Constitutes a sub-program of the National Development Program (NDP), established by Law 4635/19 (Official Gazette A' 167), which is based on a country development plan for productive restructuring, balanced regional development and social cohesion. Additionally, itsets the objectivesof the national medium-term development planningwith the utilization of the national resources of the Public Investments Program (PIP).
Specifies the objectives of medium-term development planning initsarea of responsibility, allocating the resources of the National Development Program (NDP) attributed to it, to actions and projects with high priority and foresees measures for their timely and effective implementation, within the framework of the NDP.
The Basic Choice of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the planning and implementation of interventions to improve the country's position in the global economic environment and in particular to strengthen the extroversion of Greek businesses, through a modern Economic Diplomacy.
In the Sectoral Development Program, Extroversion is of paramount importance, as extroversion interventions lead to the further exploitation of the country's comparative advantages, the increase in employment and social cohesion.
The Specific Development Goals (SDG’s) as well as the Priority Areas (PA) of theSectoral Development Program (SDP) for extroversion are defined as follows:
- EAS1 Support for exports and the extroversion of Greek businesses
- EAS2 Attracting & Supporting Investments
- AP 5.11 Promotion of Greek products abroad
- CA 5.12 Creation and promotion of a national brand
The grant actions of the Sectoral Development Program for extroversion concern: Participation in International Trade Shows both in Greece and abroad, Market research – targets, organization of extroversion actions, Actions to attract and facilitate investments, Investment support actions, Networking actions with international institutions and organizations and Actions to promote the image and the national brand.
The competent Service for the management, monitoring and control of the implementation of the SDP is the Management Office of Sectoral Development Program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
