Change of Residency

To obtain a Certification of Change of Residency, Greeks abroad can contact the nearest Consular Authority, regarding all relevant information on the documents they will need to submit.

The necessary requirements, in order to obtain a Certification of Change of Residency, are as follows: no issuance of other similar certification in the past by any other Consular Authority in the name of the person changing residency or in the name of any member of that person’s family. Moreover, the citizen changing residency has to reside mainly abroad (185 days out of any 12-month period) and have strong personal and professional bonds there (for at least two consecutive twelve-month periods before his/her change of residency). Studying at a university or other school abroad is not considered main residency.

The competent Authority in Greece for the certification of the change of residency, is the Ministry of Finance.
