Regarding car customs clearance issues, Greek citizens abroad should obtain a Certification of Change of Residency. This certification is issued by Greek Consular Authorities (the supporting documents can also be submitted to the H2 Directorate for Consular Affairs of the Ministry and then be transmitted to the competent Consulate). Citizens are asked to present this document to the Customs Authorities during this procedure.

In order to settle relevant debts towards the State by Greeks and foreign nationals residing outside Greece, the relevant documents are forwarded by the competent Customs Authorities to the H2 Directorate for Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which consequently sends them to the competent Authorities abroad in order for them to be delivered to the debtor.
