President of the Hellenic Republic Karolos Papoulias is carrying out a three-day visit to Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
During his visit, Mr. Papoulias will meet with Israeli President Shimon Peres, and in Ramallah he will meet with the President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas. Mr. Papoulias will also visit the Jerusalem Patriarchate and Patriarch Theofilos, and will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Speaker of the Knesset Reuven Rivlin, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and opposition leader Tzipi Livni.
The President’s itinerary includes a visit to the Holocaust Museum, participation in a symbolic tree planting at the Forest of Nations and reception of Greek Holocaust survivors. In Ramallah, Mr. Papoulias will lay a wreath at the Yasser Arafat Memorial and meet with a delegation from the Association of Greek Women of Palestine. The itinerary will close on Tuesday with a welcome speech by Mr. Papoulias at the Greek-Israeli business Forum on Investments and Commerce.
President Papoulias will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Stavros Lambrinidis, Culture and Tourism Minister Pavlos Geroulanos and Deputy Environment, Energy and Climate Change Minister Yannis Maniatis.
