Statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, George Gerapetritis, to the Athens News Agency and journalist Theodoros Andreadis-Syngelakis upon arrival at the Ministerial Meeting on the European Perspective of the Western Balkans (Rome, 05.02.2024)JOURNALIST: Minister, you are attending the Meeting on the European Perspective of the Western Balkans. What is our country's stance on this important issue?

G. GERAPETRITIS: Today, in Rome, we, the Friends of the Western Balkans will be meeting with our partners from the Western Balkans to discuss their path towards the European family—a course that began in Thessaloniki in 2003 and continues to this day. Greece is one of the countries advocating for this process, so that the Western Balkans can gain a clearer orientation, with respect for the acquis communautaire, democratic principles, and the Rule of Law.

Greece will always support the Western Balkans on their path towards European integration, particularly at a period with numerous challenges.
