“I had the great pleasure today, here in the offices of Greece’s Permanent Mission, of hosting the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the three Balkan countries that are member states of the European Union, namely Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia.
In the context of our meeting we talked about the perspective of the Western Balkans, about our shared view that the countries of the Western Balkans must have a European perspective, and about the special enlargement issues with regard to North Macedonia and Albania.
I think it is a good step for the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Balkan countries to talk amongst themselves and arrive at common positions regarding common interest and the common wider geographical area within the European Union.
This is something Greece will continue to do, and I would like to say that Greece, after ten years of crisis, is re-emerging from the isolation the crisis led it into. With confidence, in the Balkans, the Middle East, the Mediterranean, Europe, the world.”
