Statement (on camera) of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, following his bilateral meeting with his French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian, and the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (Paris, 15 June 2020)

Statement (on camera) of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, following his bilateral meeting with his French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian, and the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (Paris, 15 June 2020)Today, in Paris, I had the great pleasure of meeting with my French colleague, Jean-Yves Le Drian,d with whom I discussed the eepening of the Greek-French strategic partnership and, first and foremost, the escalation of Turkey’s provocations in the Mediterranean.

I also raised this issue in the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, in which I participated jointly with my French colleague. The matter was also raised during the videoconference that we had with the U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo.

I thanked our friend and ally France for its firm support, which was also shown by my other European colleagues. I reiterate that Greece will continue to work unwaveringly to consolidate security and stability in our region, responding decisively to every Turkish provocation.

Finally, I would like to express my warm and heartfelt thanks to Mr. Le Drian for the warm hospitality, including during the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, which was deeply symbolic.
