It was a pleasure to welcome you to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I welcome my colleagues from Egypt and Cyprus.
Today we had our first meeting and I look forward to close cooperation in the near future.
As you know, I took up my duties recently and I intend to work hard and do whatever I can to carry out the mission Kyriakos Mitsotakis has assigned to me.
We had very constructive talks with Ms. Makram and Mr. Fotiou. We exchanged views and explored new ways to further promote our trilateral cooperation on diaspora issues, through joint initiatives and activities.
We put particular emphasis on youth and culture issues. Our aim is strengthening interpersonal ties and bring our peoples closer together.
Our trilateral cooperation is nothing new. Just a few days ago, last week, the World Youth Forum was a success in Egypt, and today we are continuing with diaspora issues, promoting a positive agenda in the Eastern Mediterranean – an agenda that reaffirms that Greece, Egypt and Cyprus are pillars of peace and stability in a turbulent region.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Secretary General for Greeks Abroad, Professor Ioannis Chrysoulakis, and his associates – they are the heart of this programme for Greece – for the excellent coordination of today’s trilateral meeting.
Once again, I would like to thank Nabila and Fotis for being with us.
