The 29th Promotion of Candidate Embassy Attachés of the Hellenic Diplomatic Academy (HDA), accompanied by the Director of Studies, First Counselor Michail Angelopoulos, paid a study visit to Thrace from 25 to 29 March 2025.
During their visit, they had the opportunity to explore significant historical and cultural landmarks, such as the Ethnological Museum of Thrace, the Caratheodory Museum, the Silk Museum, and the Foundation of Thracian art and Tradition. Significant meetings were held with local government representatives, who provided valuable insights into the challenges and development prospects of the region. In particular, during their meeting with the Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Mr. Christodoulos Topsidis, the Candidate Embassy Attachés discussed about the region’s strategic role as a gateway between East and West, as well as its potential to emerge as a business and energy hub.
Equally noteworthy were the meetings with local religious representatives, who elaborated on the harmonious coexistence of Christians and Muslims in the region and the respect for the diverse religious and cultural traditions of all Greek citizens in Thrace.
During their meeting with representatives of the Regional Directorate of Education of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, the Candidate Attachés familiarised themselves with the primary and secondary education provided to members of the Muslim Minority of Thrace, either in public schools or in minority schools funded by the Greek State, based on their choice.
They, also, visited the Evros Delta, where they had the opportunity to experience the natural beauty and ecological significance of the region.
