Visit of the President of the Hellenic Republic to Bulgaria

Visit of the President of the Hellenic Republic to Bulgaria On Wednesday and Thursday, 17 and 18 November, Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas will accompany the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Karolos Papoulias, on a state visit to Bulgaria.

This year, Greece and Bulgaria celebrate 130 years of diplomatic relations. It is within this context that the fifth border crossing between the two countries (opened on the location Kyprinos-Ivailovgrad) was inaugurated on 9 September 2010, in the presence of the two countries’ Presidents. Another significant recent development in Greek-Bulgarian relations was the establishment of a High-level Cooperation Council, which institutionalises a strategic partnership between the two countries, the inaugural session of which was attended by the two Prime Ministers in Sofia on 27 July 2010.

It should be noted that on Wednesday, 17 November, within the framework of the Greek President’s state visit, Foreign Minister Droutsas will meet with his Bulgarian counterpart, Mr. Nikolai Mladenov.
