Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Mrs. Zoe Konstantopoulou represented Greece at the Commemoration of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, Yerevan, 24.04.2015

The Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Mrs Zoe Konstantopoulou represented Greece at the events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide which took place in Erevan on 24 April 2015.
During her stay in Armenia, Mrs Konstantopoulou laid a wreath at the Memorial of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, attended the works of the Global Forum against the crime of Genocide, in which she delivered a speech, and participated in the Ceremony of Canonization of the victims of the Armenian Genocide by the Armenian Apostolic Church held at the Holy See of Etchimiadzin.
In the framework of her visit, Mrs Konstantopoulou met with the President of the Republic of Armenia HE Mr.Serz Sargsyan,the Prime Minister HE Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan, the Speaker of the Parliament HE Mr.Galust Sahakyan, the Supreme Patriarch, Catholicos of All Armenians His Holiness Karekin II and with representatives of the Greek Community in Armenia.
In addition, Mrs Konstantopoulou visited the Department of the Greek language and civilization at Erevan State University and the Armenian-Greek College for Tourism, Food and Services.
Mrs Konstantopoulou's visit to Armenia was very successful.
It reconfirmed the centuries-long ties between Armenian and Greek people, largely contributed to the enhancement of bilateral relations and gave new impetus to the collaboration of the two countries in the field of parliamentary diplomacy.
