Economic Relations
Recent years have witnessed a significant increase in the economic and trade relations between Greece and Croatia, covering a wide range of sectors including, amongst others, trade in goods and services, energy, tourism and transport. There is, however, ample room for further enhancing and expanding bilateral economic cooperation, especially after Croatia's entry into the Eurozone and the Schengen area (1.1.2023). The existence of a strong potential is confirmed by the doubling of the bilateral trade volume between 2018 and 2022. Moreover, Greek exports to Croatia follow a similar path, resulting in more than tripling, during the aforementioned period.
Focusing on 2022, Greek exports to Croatia amounted to 324,2 million euros, recording a significant increase of 20% compared to 2021. Croatian exports to Greece also moved upwards, amounting to 106,8 million euros (an increase of 15% compared to 2021). As a result, the trade volume reached 431 million euros, an increase of 19% compared to 2021.
The main product categories that Greece exported to Croatia in 2022 were the following: petroleum products, base metals (mainly aluminum) and their products, food and beverages, vegetables, machines, devices and electrical equipment, textiles and their products, plastics and chemicals.
