Embassy News CELEBRATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL GREEK LANGUAGE DAYCELEBRATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL GREEK LANGUAGE DAY
The Embassy of Greece in Croatia, in
cooperation with the Departments of Classical Philology of the Universities of
Zagreb and Zadar, organized, on February 9, an event to celebrate the International
Greek Language Day. The event took place in the amphitheatre of the School of
Philosophy of the University of Zagreb. Opening remarks were made by the
Secretary-General for the Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy, Mr. Ioannis
Chryssoulakis (through video message), the Ambassador of Greece to Croatia Mrs
Antonia Katzourou, and the Rector of the School of Philosophy of the University
of Zagreb Professor Tončinić. The Heads of the Departments of Classical
Philology, Dr. Petra Matović and Dr.Teuta Serreqi Jurić, as well as the
Professor of History of the University of Zagreb Hrvoje Gračanin, presented the
results of their academic research regarding the evolution of the Greek
language from the Hellenistic era till the 11th century.
