Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias to attend the Informal ‘Gymnich’ Meeting of EU Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Extraordinary Meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (Zagreb,5-6 March)

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias is travelling to Zagreb today,Thursday 5 March, to participate in the Informal ‘Gymnich’ Meeting of EU member-state Ministers of Foreign Affairs.

The proceedings will start with the working luncheon, during which the Ministers of Foreign Affairs will discuss EU-Russian relations. They will then discuss EU-Turkish relations in light of the FAC conclusions of last July and November.

On Friday, 6 March, following a request from Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias, an extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council will be convened to discuss the situation on the EU-Turkish border in the wake of Turkey’s decision to orchestrate a mass violation of Europe’s borders through organized movements of persons. Developments in Syria will also be discussed in this regard.
