Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis meets with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Jakub Karfik (1 July 2020)

Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis received the Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Jakub Karfik, in a courtesy visit on Wednesday, 1 July. During the meeting, they discussed European issues, with emphasis on Migration.

Noting how challenging the migration issue is for Greece and the member states of the EU as a whole, the Alternate Minister asked his interlocutor for his country’s assistance, submitting to him specific proposals concerning the debate on revision of the Common European Asylum System, so that we can move ahead as soon as possible to an agreement on an issue that is very important to European citizens.

They also discussed the security situation on the EU’s periphery, with emphasis on the Eastern Mediterranean, and they expressed a shared will for even closer Greek-Czech bilateral relations.
