Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, I. Amanatidis, on visit to Egypt (16-19 October 2017)

Monday, 16 October 2017

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ioannis Amanatidis, is carrying out a three-day visit to Egypt, where he will have a number of meetings with political and religious figures.

It should be noted that the 2nd International Conference on Religious and Cultural Pluralism and Peaceful Coexistence in the Middle East – an initiative of Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Kotzias, in which Egypt’s participation has been exceptional – is being held in Athens from 29 to 31 October.

The first stop on the Deputy Minister's visit is the Patriarchate of Alexandria, where he will be received by Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa.  He will then give a welcome speech at the presentation of the commemorative album entitled “Patriarchate of Alexandria, 10 years since the inauguration of the Patriarchal Palace”.

On Tuesday, 17 October 2017, Mr. Amanatidis will travel to the Sinai Peninsula, where he will carry out a visit to the Governor of South Sinai, Gen. Khaled Fouda.

Following the meeting, Mr. Amanatidis will travel on to historic Saint Catherine’s Monastery, on Mount Sinai. While at the Monastery, he will be briefed on the educational and cultural activities of this important UNESCO Cultural Heritage Monument and on issues the ancient Monastery faces.
