6th Estonian Wine Fair: Focus on greek wine
On February 12-13, the Estonian Sommelier Association held its 6th biannual Wine Fair in Tallinn. This year, the biggest wine event in Estonia had for the first time a focus on Greek wines, offering thus the opportunity to the Estonian professionals οf the sector and public to discover a product still unknown in this country.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the National Inter-Professional Organisation of Vine and Wine of Greece (EDOAO) and of greek renowned wine producers, a special stand gathered five leading wineries ( Kyr Yiannis, Sigalas, Tsantalis, Lyrarakis, Cavinco) and three masterclasses on Greek wine were held by the renowned Sommelier, Mr John Karakassis who offered a fascinating journey through Greek wine-producing regions (from Macedonia, northernmost, to Crete, southernmost, passing by Santorini and Nemea region) and the so characteristic indigenous varieties, allowing attendants to taste twenty four unique etiquettes of eight exclusive Greek producers besides the aforementioned, Porto Carras, Tsililis, Thymiopoulos, Alpha Estate.
To mark the special tribute to Greek wine, Ambassador of Greece to Estonia, H.E., Mr Catsambis opened the fair at the invitation of the President of the Estonian Sommelier Association, Mrs Kristel Nommik.
At the ceremony, the Estonian choir Hellas performed famous Greek and Estonian songs.
