Study Classical Greece in Athens
We inform you that the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) has launched its new "BA Program in the Archaeology, History, and Literature of Ancient Greece" since fall of 2020 and the platform is now open for applications for fall 2021 enrollment.
Is a unique opportunity for students to study archaeology, ancient history and ancient Greek literature, exactly where the ancient Greek civilization was born and flourished. Students will be able to study world famous monuments, such as the Parthenon, Delphi, Olympia, Mycenae etc., along with Greek history from the Mycenaean times through the end of the Late Antiquity, the evolution of the Greek culture across the centuries through the systematic examination of representative literary sources, and the interaction with other cultures of the wider Mediterranean. They will become thus part of the landscape they study and, most importantly, actively participate in university excavations, both in the broader region of Attica and on other archaeological sites around Greece.
The BA program is offered by Greece's premier Higher Education institution, consistently ranked among the top Universities worldwide, at the School of Philosophy, whose tradition exceeds 180 years of ongoing activity and strong presence. It is the first English-taught Bachelor's degree program at a Greek University and is addressed to international prospective University students.
Alongside their core studies, the prospective students will have the chance to study the Modern Greek language as a second/foreign language, at the Modern Greek Language Teaching Centre, which offers high-quality, specialized language classes to thousands of foreign students consistently throughout the years.
"BA Program in the Archaeology, History, and Literature of Ancient Greece" specifics:
* Duration of the study program: four (4) years (eight academic semesters)
* Mode of Study: Full-time
* Total number of credits required to successfully complete the program: 248 ECTS
* Tuition fees: 6.000 Euros annually
* Scholarships will be announced soon
For potential students to apply, a History subject would be preferable, but not compulsory since the first year of the program allows for students to fill in any gaps as an introduction to basic disciplines. All applications will be considered on their own merit.
Apart from high school graduates who will enroll for this full four-year BA program, potential students may also include exchange students who would be welcome for the period of one or two years, through bilateral agreements between the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the university they are already registered with.
