Lifting the state of emergency
On January 26, 2022, the state of emergency in Ethiopia was lifted. The security situation in the country has improved but remains unpredictable as fighting in northern Ethiopia has not ceased.
Therefore, travel to Northern Ethiopia is completely discouraged, while Greek citizens wishing to travel to Addis Ababa and other parts of the country are advised to contact the Greek Embassy in Addis Ababa in order to receive immediate information on latest developments.
Greek citizens living in Ethiopia are also advised to remain vigilant, to follow developments in the country and to get in contact with the Embassy of Greece in Addis Ababa.
