Trade and investment between Greece and Georgia
Recent years have witnessed a significant increase in the economic and trade relations between Greece and Georgia, covering a wide range of sectors However, there is ample room for further enhancing and expanding bilateral economic cooperation, especially after the signing of the DCFTA. The existence of a strong potential is confirmed by the doubling of the bilateral trade volume between 2018 and 2022.
Focusing on 2022, Greek exports to Georgia amounted to €261.7 million, recording a significant increase of 462.25% compared to 2021. Georgian exports to Greece also moved upwards, amounting to €6 million (an increase of 11.77% compared to 2021). As a result, the trade volume reached €268 million, an increase of 415.21% compared to 2021.
The main product categories that Greece exported to Georgia in 2022 were the following: petroleum products, worn clothing, pharmaceuticals, tobacco, paints and varnishes, prepared binders for foundry moulds and aluminum bars.
According to the data of the National Bank of Georgia, Greece ranks 5th, for 2022, as far as money transfers from Greece to Georgia is concerned, representing 5.12% of the total volume of money inflows.

Greek Golden Visa program
Non-EU citizens and their family members have several options to obtain a Greek Residence Permit. A residence permit is an official document giving individuals the right to reside legally in Greece. Residence permits are renewed every five years. The holders can travel freely in the Schengen area for up to 3 months within a 6-month period and can purchase a car with Greek license plates. They have equal right to public education as Greek nationals. Employment rights depend on the type of permit issued.

Incentives for foreign taxpayers
The Greek Ministry of Finance has introduced the following favourable tax regimes for individuals who transfer their tax residence in Greece:
Under the Greek non-domiciled tax regime, individuals pay a lump sum tax of €100,000 on an annual basis regardless of the income earned abroad. The special tax regime can be used for 15 years.
Foreign Pensioners who transfer their tax residence in Greece pay annually a 7% income tax for their total income obtained abroad. The special tax regime can be used for 15 years.
Natural persons who transfer their tax residence to Greece and will be employed in new jobs or start a business as a self-employed person are entitled to an income tax break and exemption from the special solidarity levy, of 50% of the income they acquire in Greece for 7 years.
