Online Seminar on the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and Maritime Security
Online Seminar on the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and Maritime Security, coorganized by the Embassy of Greece in India, the EU Delegation in India, the National Maritime Foundation of India and the ESIWA Project (11.4.2022)
On 11th April 2022 the Embassy of Greece in India co-organized an Online Seminar on the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and Maritime Security, together with the prominent Indian Think Tank that specialises on Maritime Affairs, National Maritime Foundation, the ESIWA Project and the EU Delegation in India.
In the course of the Seminar, the shared commitment of Greece and India to UNCLOS, the UNCLOS as part of EU acquis and the relevant EU strategies on maritime security in the Indo- Pacific as well as the EU, Indian and Greek perspectives on UNCLOS and maritime security were discussed, inter alia.
Many prominent experts from EU, Greece (MFA and Shipping Ministry) and India (Indian MEA, MoD and NMF) took part in the Seminar and we were most honored to have worked with such knowledgeable partners.
Main take away: Exchanging perspectives on the application of UNCLOS rules in different contexts (e.g. the Mediterranean or the Indo - Pacific) only strengthens our joint principled approach and paves the way for practical synergies in the field.
