Official Visit of the Minister of Defence Mr. Panos Kammenos (1-4.11.2016)

The Minister of Defence Mr. Panos Kammenos visited Jakarta (1-4.11.2016) as an official guest of his counterpart Mr. Ryamizard Ryacudu on the occasion of IndoDefence 2016. Historically, the visit is an important landmark in the relations between Greece and Indonesia as it is the very first one of any Greek Minister to Indonesia since the establishment of the Embassy of Greece in 1996. During his stay Mr. Kammenos made a courtesy call to H.E Vice-President Mr. Yusuf Kalla and met with H.E the Speaker of the Parliament Mr. Ade Komarudin, H.E the Minister of Defence Mr. Ryamizard Ryacudu as well as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee of Interparliamentarian Cooperation Dr. Nurhayati Ali Assegaf.

The main objective of visit was the enhancement of cooperation on defense and security issues and within this framework the Ministries of Defense of Greece and Indonesia signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) on drafting a Memorandum of Military – Technical Cooperation.

In addition, the Minister of Defense visited the pavilions of Greek defense companies which participated in the IndoDefense 2016 and opened the Industry Day Meeting of Greek and Indonesian businesses.
