Verification of the authenticity of foreign documents
To verify the authenticity of a document issued by a state that has not ratified the Hague Convention, the holder of the document for verification applies to the Greek Consular Authority in whose region of responsibility the document was issued so that said Consular Authority can contact the agency that issued the document in question and verify its authenticity. If the authenticity is verified, the Consular Authority certifies the authenticity of the document.
The Consular Section of the Greek Embassy in Tehran hereby informs the esteemed applicants who refer to this office for the legalization of their documents that from October 1st, 2020, this procedure will take place at the Embassy’s external provider (VFS Global).
The verification of the authenticity of the signature of applicants for any solemn declaration, letter of introduction and similar cases is still held at the Consular Section in the Embassy building upon appointment.
In addition, prior coordination with the consular office is required to prepare the Power of Attorney.
