Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister, Christos Stylianides, visits Israel
On June 12 & 13, the Minister for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection of Greece, Mr. Christos Stylianides, visited Israel and had meetings with the Israeli Ministers for Public Security Mr. Omer Bar-Lev and Environment Protection Ms Tamar Zandberg as well as the Israeli Deputy Minister of Defense Mr. Alon Schuster.
The further deepening Greek-Israeli cooperation on civil protection and climate crisis mitigation topped the agenda. In this framework, Minister Stylianides and Deputy Defense Minister Schuster signed the first ever Memorandum of Understanding between Greece and Israel on civil protection cooperation. Furthermore, Ministers Stylianides and Bar Lev discussed ways of further enhancing cooperation between the two countries’ fire-fighting Authorities. With Minister Zandberg, Minister Stylianides exchanged views on policies aimed at mitigating the impact of climate crisis, with a particular focus on the wider Mediterranean region, as well as ideas on further strengthening bilateral cooperation in this field.
Minister Stylianides also visited the Geological Survey of Israel, where he was briefed about Israel’s early warning system in the case of natural disasters.
Lastly, Minister Stylianides visited the Patriarchate of Jerusalem where he was received by His Beatitude the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III
