Deputy Foreign Ministry in charge of economic diplomacy visits Israel
Greece’s Deputy Foreign Ministry responsible for economic diplomacy, Mr. Costas Fragkogiannis visited Israel on June 8-9 and held a series of meetings with government officials, entrepreneurship and innovation authorities as well as business pundits who are active in the fields of energy, renewables, agricultural production, construction and waste management.
More specifically, Mr. Fragkogiannis met with Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Idan Roll Deputy Minister for Economy and Industry, Mr. Yair Golan, as well as the Chairman of Israel’s Innovation Authority, Mr. Ami Appelbaum. The outstanding level of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries was reconfirmed, while further potential for future partnerships was identified, particularly in intensifying cooperation in existing sectors, as well as tapping into investment opportunities in renewable energy schemes, agro-tech and other innovative fields. Ways to further enhance know-how exchange, as well as building upon joint research programs, were also discussed.
Two MoUs were signed both pertaining to bilateral trade matters: one was signed by the Greek Deputy Foreign Minister on behalf of Enterprise Greece and by Israel’s Export Institute head Ayelet Nahmias-Verbin and the other between Export Credit Greece and Israel Foreign Trade Risks Insurance Corporation.
Mr. Fragkogiannis also met with distinguished members of the Israeli business community, who are either already active in Greece or wish to embark on investment ventures, particularly in the field of renewable energy sources.
Finally, Deputy Minister Fragkogiannis visited the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, where he was received by His Beatitude the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Theophilos III.
