Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Konstantinos Vlasis meets with Israeli Ambassador Yossi Amrani (Athens, 4 March 2020)
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Konstantinos Vlasis today met, in his office, with the Israeli Ambassador to Greece, Yossi Amrani.
The Israeli Ambassador briefed the Deputy Minister on the domestic situation and the recent elections in his country and reaffirmed the excellent bilateral relations extending into many sectors beyond energy. He also pointed to the great dynamic in bilateral cooperation and underscored the important role of the Diaspora in promoting national issues.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs referred to the events taking place in Evros and on the islands of the Eastern Aegean, stressing the country’s readiness to protect its borders. Mr. Vlasis underscored that Greece and Israel are a pillar of stability, peace and security in the Southeastern Mediterranean, making special mention of the EastMed pipeline. Finally, he referred to the successful cooperation between Greece, Cyprus and Israel on Diaspora affairs and the prospects for further deepening this cooperation.
