The 5DMuPLIS Greek Delegation Visit to Survey Of Israel (September 7, 2015)
A Greek Delegation of the project participants, named 5DMuPLIS (5 Dimensional Multi-Purpose Land Information System) consisting of GEOSYSTEMS HELLAS, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and CERTH, visited Israel from 06-09 of September for the final bilateral meetings in the Technion University, the Survey of Israel (SOI) and SIVAN Company for the presentation of an innovative land information system: the 5DMuPLIS.
5D MuPLIS is a product that takes into account spatio-temporal data and the scale dimension (3D+time+scale with no gaps, no overlaps) and the creation of an interoperable alignment interface that:
-enables data collection from heterogeneous resources to be integrated into a common framework, in order to achieve an advanced methodology for 3D Cadastre
- moves further to “Smart Cities” realization and
-gives the citizens better quality of life.
The central presentation and professional meeting took place, on Monday, 7/9/2015, at SOI Director General's Office in Tel Aviv, where both sides, the Greek as well as the Israeli one, presented the results of their collaboration within the framework of this project, which had been financed by the Greece-Israel bilateral R&T programme.
In this meeting, the Embassy was represented by Mr Konstantinos Kouroumalos, First Secretary for Economic and Commercial Affairs, Deputy Head of the Office of Economic and Commercial Relations of the Greek Embassy, who stressed, among other, that “Within the framework of our bilateral R&T program, 30 joint research projects have been approved for funding, whose total expenditure for the Greek side amounted to 10.000.000 €”.
The basic message deriving from this meeting is that our cities are facing similar challenges, which can be faced as urban technological problems and may be solved with the right technologies, while at the same time creating new business opportunities and collaborations.
