The work of the Chair of Maritime Attache in Tokyo are in accordance with the provisions of the legislation the following:

1. Issue temporally vessels certificates, recognizing new vessels as Greek.
2. Keeping register and mortgage books for definitive identification of ships as Greek.
3. Renewal vessels certificates after approval by the competent Authority.
4. Monitoring and inspection of Greek vessels and their companies for compliance with the provisions of the legislation especially with safety of navigation, protection of the marine environment, accommodation of captain and crew. Monitoring inspections of Japan Port state control, rectification of deficiencies, observations.
5. Investigation and formation of proceedings in criminal and disciplinary offenses Greek seamen and accident situations.
6. Control crew list of Greek vessels and renewal crew certificates. .
7. Resolving differences seafarers.
8. Awarding of pension and benefits to NAT pensioners residing permanently in Japan.
