Aspects of Pontic Culture in Kyoto, Japan, 24th-25th September 2022

On 24th and 25th of September, a noteworthy event was held in Kyoto, on Pontic Hellenism. Aspects of Pontic culture such as traditional music, dances, clothing and cuisine were presented.

Mr. Konstatninos Konstantinidis, who is 91 years old, spoke about the Pontian refugees, based on his experiences and the testimonies of his compatriots. Mr. Panagiotis Kyrmanidis (Coordinator - Traditional Dancing master) presented Pontic dances, while Mr. Charalambos Kyrmanidis, from the Pontic Cultural Association of Kalamaria 'The Mithrioi', played the Pontic lyre. Mr. Kosike Fukuda, professor at Kyoto University, speaking fluent Greek, spoke about his love for Greece and Pontus.
