Decoration of Dr. Claire Papapavlou by His Majesty the Emperor of Japan (November 3rd, 2014)

We congratulate Dr. Claire Papapavlou for her decoration by His Majesty the Emperor of Japan with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, on November 3rd, 2014, Day of Culture in Japan. Dr. Papapavlou was decorated for her contribution to the development of research on Japan in Greece and for making the Japanese culture known to the Greek public. Through her work she has brought the two peoples closer.

Dr. Papapavlou has a PhD on Sino- Japanese Art and is also a historian of Far-East Culture. She currently teaches at the Public University of Athens and is a she was a lecturer at the University of Athens. She is a prolific writer, having dedicated many of her works to the study of Lafcadio Hearn.

Announcement by the Cabinet Office concerning the decorations by His Majesty the Emperor of Japan of foreigners residing outside Japan (November 3rd, 2014). Among them the name of Dr. Papapavlou at the end of page 9 (in Japanese).
