“Get to Know Greece” event (Feb. 5, 2013)

"Get to Know Greece" was the theme for the February gathering at the Residence. Mrs. Yasmine Lawand-Tsamados organized the event for 35 ladies, in cooperation with the Mitsukoshi Travel Agency. A lecture on Greek jewellery was given by Professor Masako Kido from the Kyoritsu Women's University, who also provided a display of modern Greek jewellery.  Following that was a presentation of Greek dances performed by Mr. Kamakura and Mrs. Sakaino, which included the Kalamatianos, Sirtaki, and Hassapikos dances, among others.  After the luncheon, the traditional Greek New Year’s cake, Vassilopita, was cut and the silver coin awarded to this year's winner by Ambassador Nikolaos Tsamados.
