Participation of Greek University student Stephanos Mandalas (3 dan) in the 6th Mini Olympiad of Shogi (International Shogi Forum), Shizuoka, December 5-8, 2014

Greek University student Stephanos Mandalas, who holds a 3 dan rank in Shogi, participated in the 6th Mini Olympiad of Shogi or 6th International Shogi Forum, which took place at the Convention and Arts Center “Granship” of Shizuoka, with a splendid view of Mt. Fuji.

The event was organized by the Shogi Federation and the Executive Committee of the 6th International Shogi Forum of Shizuoka, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Agency of Cultural Affairs of Japan, the Japan Foundation and many others and with the sponsorship of the Igo and Shogi Channel Inc., the Kyorindo Super Drug Store and the Kikkoman Corporation.

38 countries participated in this event with one or two representatives.
The winner of the main tournament "A" was the Japanese school boy Takahashi Haruto
The second was the French Jean Fortin 4 dan
The third was the Chinese Gu Guamming 4 dan, after a difficult game with Stephanos Mandalas, who came fourth.

The Embassy would like to congratulate Mr. Mandalas on his participation and achievement of 4th place and wishes him good luck at his future games.
