Visit to Komagane (Nagano Pref.) by Ambassador Tsamados (October 15-16, 2011)

Ambassador N. Tsamados visited the city of Komagane in Nagano Prefecture participating at a delegation of Ambassadors stationed in Tokyo upon the invitation of Mr. Osamu Iijma (Senior Advisor of former Prime Minister Mr. Junichiro Koizumi), in order to cultivate relations with the area. At Komagane the Ambassadors met with the Mayor of the city, Mr. Koji Sugimoto and the Vice President of the Municipality Board, Mr. Hiroaki Nakatsubo. The itinerary included a tour of the local JICA and a visit to the biggest and most important company of the area, Yamaura Corp., where the Ambassadors were met by the Vice President, Mr. Yasutami Yamaura. The activities of the company range from building and bridge construction, water management systems etc, to the preparation of food supplements.

Mr. Iijima gave a reception for his guests at his Residence, where the Ambassadors had the chance to enjoy traditional tea ceremony performed by Mrs. Iijima.

On the way back to Shinjuku, all the Ambassadors agreed that it had been a very enjoyable and productive weekend.
