Cycladic civilization and Despotiko Excavation Lecture

As a part of events marking 2024 as the Year of Culture and Tourism Greece-Japan, a special lecture on the excavations on the island of Despotiko and the Cycladic Civilization was organized on January 18, at Otsuma Women's University in Tokyo. The guest lecturers were Mr. Yannos Kourayos of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Dr. Erica Angliker of British Archaeological School at Athens.

The event was co-organized by the Embassy of Greece in Japan and held under the auspices of the Japan Greece Society. Dr. Angliker and Mr. Kourayos spoke to a wide audience of students and general public, offering an in depth analysis of the Cylcadic civilization and its importance for the Eastern Mediterranean. The impressive excavation, findings and restauration of the Despotiko site was also extensively presented. An extensive session of Q&A followed.
