Opening of and participation in 8th European Literature Festival in Tokyo, with a lecture dedicated to C. P. Cavafy, as part of the 2024 Greece-Japan Year of Culture and Tourism celebrations (11.10)

As part of the cultural events organized in the context of the 2024 Greece-Japan Year of Culture and Tourism, the Embassy, with the support of Cavafy Archive of the Onassis Foundation, opened the 8th European Literature Festival in Tokyo, on October 11, 2024, at the Europa House. The opening lecture by renowned author and Cavafy's translator, Mr. Natsuki Ikezawa, evolved around Cavafy's life and work. At the end of the lecture, six contemporary Greek poets recited, on video, one poem each, inspired by Cavafy's style and poetic topoi. The poems were screened subtitled and translated by Dr. Fukuda Kosuke. The Cavafy lecture was followed by a reception at the Europa House.
