Visit of the Ambassador Mrs. Maria Louisa Marinakis to the UN WOMEN Support Centre for Women and Minors Refugees from Syria

The Ambassador of Greece Mrs. Maria Louisa Marinakis accompanied by the Representative of the Organization UN Women Jordan Mr. Giuseppe Belsito paid a visit to the Support Centre for women and minors Syrian refugees, in Zarqa, which operates under the UN WOMEN project against gender-based violence and offers health services, psychological support and legal services.

Greece is one of the sponsors of this project, which is implemented by ten local centres in Jordan, mainly in areas inhabited by refugees. 

More specifically, the centre of Zarqa offers: elementary school for minors, courses of Arabic language for illiterates (for all ages and genders), services for individual or group psychological support, especially for women-victims of violence, three meals per day services and workshops for women handicrafts (embroidery, knitting, etc), that are sold via the centre and provide a small revenue for the women.
