Visit of the Minister of National Defence to Jordan

The Minister of National Defence Mr. Dimitris Avramopoulos, accompanied by the Alternate Minister of National Defence Ms Fofi Gennimata and the Chief of Staff, General Michael Kostarakos participated at the inauguration of the 10th Edition of the Special Forces Excibition of Jordan (SOFEX 2014/5-6/5/2014), following an invitation extended to him by the Jordanian side.

During his stay in Amman, the Minister of National Defence held meetings with HRH Prince Feisal Bin Al Hussein, the Prime Minister & Minister of Defence Dr Abdalla Ensour, the Minister of Interior Mr. Hussein Hazza Mazali as well as with the Speaker of the Lower House Mr.Atef Tarawneh.

The Alternate Minister held talks with the CEO of the King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau, Mr. Sadi Ramzi Majali, aiming at creating a solid base for promoting the bilateral cooperation on the sector of Defence Industries.

The Ambassador Ms Maria Louisa Marinakis hosted a dinner honouring the Delegation of the Ministry of Defence, at the presence of the Speaker of the Lower House Mr.Atef Tarawneh as well as of the Presidents of the Greek Ladies' Association, the Greek Parents' Association and the President of Jordanian Alumnis of Greek Universities and Military Schools' Association.

All meetings that were held proved the excellent level of the bilateral relations in all fields, while both sides reiterated their keeness for further enhancement of the cooperation, in the context of mutual trust.
