Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis meets with the Ambassador of Lithuania, Rolandas Kačinskas (Athens, 27 August 2019)The Alternate Minister for Foreign Affairs, Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, received the Ambassador of Lithuania, Rolandas Kačinskas, in a courtesy meeting on Tuesday, 27 August, occasioned by the taking up of his new duties.
The talks focused on bilateral and European issues. Special emphasis was put on the challenges the European Union and its member states are facing due to the Brexit and the new Multiannual Financial Framework, especially with regard to the need to maintain funding for Cohesion policies and the Common Agricultural Policy, on which the two countries have shared positions.
The high level of bilateral relations was confirmed, along with the need for further enhancement of these relations in sectors such as economy. In this context, Mr. Kačinskas briefed the Alternate Minister on the upcoming Greek business mission and business forum scheduled for September in Vilnius.
Finally, Mr. Kačinskas conveyed to the Alternate Minister an invitation from the latter’s counterpart to visit Lithuania for bilateral consultations.
